You find yourself in the centre of the Parade Ring before the first
race of the day...
The build up to the race takes place here. The horses are brought
from the stables to the pre-parade ring 30 minutes before their race.
They are saddled and then enter the Parade Ring 15 minutes later and
give the crowd a chance to pick out their favourite horse.
The jockeys mount the horses and 10 minutes before the race is due
off they are sent to post.
With the crowd thronging around the paddock, the horses have to deal
with the extra tension and pressure and, especially with young horses,
races can be won and lost with horses getting too excited and sweating
up.
It is a great place for the spectator to check out the condition of
the that lucky horse that is going to be carrying your £(s). |
