Using a plan of the school, identify all the sources of drinking water within the building. Ask the pupils to trace the journey of the water from the water mains to the taps. Then ask pupils to investigate the origin of the drinking water and using local Ordinance Survey maps to work out the route of the water and  the distance it's travelled.  Consolidate the concept by visiting a reservoir and/or a water processing plant.
