Our reporter Emma Colman has just arrived at the STEAM Museum in Swindon, where counting is due to begin at 11:00 BST.

In a few hours, the room will be full of hustle and bustle as the boxes are cut open, but for now, it is eerily quiet.

All eyes are on Swindon - we will bring you more as we have it.

Vote counting in the Swindon local election won't start until later this morning but the votes have been verified by election officials.

The turnout for this election was 43.7 per cent.

As I said earlier, all 57 council seats are up for grabs and whoever wins, will run the council for the next four years.

Our Gloucestershire reporters, Esme Ashcroft and Edward Rowe have arrived at the count and are waiting to be let in at 09:15 BST when verification begins.

The election team are setting up at Tommy Taylor’s Lane.

The leisure centre is being transformed from a sports hall to a democracy station.

Esme says: "We’re waiting outside - much like hours before the gates to Glasto open."

"Counters are arriving and showing their tickets to security. The coffee is flowing and the ballot boxes are on the floor waiting to be opened.

"Edward and I, weighed down with kit, are waiting for access to count floor - or as we like to call it, the political Pyramid Stage," she adds.
