It's now heading for Dublin, according to the site.

Edinburgh Airport says IT issues with its air traffic control provider are causing them to ground flights.

Air traffic control at the airport is provided by ANSL - it's important to note that this is not an issue affecting NATS, the UK’s main provider, and therefore I wouldn’t expect it to be a national issue.

• For context: Air traffic control manages the movement of planes both in the air and on the ground. They instruct pilots on take-off, landing and navigation to manage the flow of traffic and prevent collisions. There are several air traffic control organisations in the UK, including Air Navigation Solutions Ltd (ANSL) and National Air Traffic Services (NATS).

The airport posted the message below on social media a short while ago.

No time frames have been given beyond the fact that teams are looking to resolve the issue "as soon as possible".

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s busiest airport, and works with 40 airlines.

More than 15.7 million people used the airport last year - and it's the 6th busiest airport in the UK, according to its website, external.

A look at the departures board for Edinburgh Airport shows around 10 flights listed for the next hour - all are still showing as "go to gate" for now.

The airport says it has teams working on the issue to try and resolve it as soon as possible.

Passengers are being advised to contact their airline for the latest information on flights.
