  2. Amber warning for rain as Storm Chandra hitspublished at 06:03 GMT 27 January

    An amber weather warning for rain has been issued for parts of south-west England alongside yellow weather warnings for both wind and rain.

    The amber warning, affecting parts of Devon, Cornwall and Dorset, has been in place since 17:00 GMT on Monday and runs until 09:00 on Tuesday.

    The Met Office forecast 30mm (1.2in) to 50mm (2in) of rain could fall during Storm Chandra, with some areas of higher ground seeing 60mm (2.4in) to 80mm (3.1in).

    The amber alert follows a yellow warning for rain already in place from 13:00 on Monday until 10:00 on Tuesday.

    A yellow weather warning for wind for Cornwall, Devon and the Isles of Scilly has been in place since 05:00 and runs until 16:00.

    The Met Office said south to south-westerly winds, associated with Storm Chandra, would become very strong during Tuesday morning.
