  6. Midnight snack to refuel election volunteerspublished at 00:37 BST 8 June

    Caitlin Klein
    Reporting from Grouville

A few volunteers have been popping into the room I’m sitting in to grab a quick break from counting.

It’s become something of a refuelling station, with sandwiches, sweet treats and fruit laid out on the tables. But, I'm not too sure the fruit is as popular as the cakes and biscuits!

The latest I've heard from inside the count is that Grouville is about halfway through the Senator ballots.

One volunteer is studying politics at university and flew back to Jersey just to help with the count. Tonight he’s counting votes alongside his mum - a reminder that election night relies on plenty of people giving up their time behind the scenes.
