Lucie has done everything she can to be a great ambassador. She can go home happy no matter what the result - she has done very well!

Paddy's popped in to join Ken Bruce on Radio 2, and is pretty much saying what the rest of us are thinking.

A lot of very proud UK Eurovision viewers tuning in tonight.

When she's not singing haunting French ballads, Alma likes to take a leaf out of Dihaj's book and try on all sorts of novelty animal heads.

Dihaj, if you wake up tomorrow and find that horse head has gone missing I think you know which hotel door to bang on:

That last one looks particularly dangerous. Viewers at home - DO NOT DO THIS next time you're queueing up at Gatwick no matter how delayed your flight is.

France's performance marks the end of tonight's singing. The voting process will now begin while we listen to excerpts from all the songs over and over and over...

It's true, the customary dry-ice-and-glorified-desk-fan routine has been in pretty short supply this evening.

Food for thought if you fancy yourself as 2018's Alexander Rybak

France last won Eurovision in 1977 and isn't likely to break its 40-year duck with this year’s entry.

But Requiem is a classy effort all the same and is elegantly sung by Alma - real name Alexandra Maquet - in her native tongue.

Stylish visuals see the 28-year-old - clad in a chic and sparkly mini-dress - perform in front of a spinning backdrop of Paris by night.

The song’s flamenco beat and sense of drama could potentially see France better the sixth place finish it managed in Stockholm last year, though its last place position in the running order does it few favours.

Lucky young Alma even got a personal, signed photo from former Canadian...

....sorry SWISS winner Celine Dion to wish her luck.

Get your tissues out, it's Alma with the up-beat sounding anthem 'Requiem.'

Alma was voted 'the most promising emerging artist of 2017' through various social media platforms. She also got stuck into a cover of Single Ladies with Poland's entrant earlier today:

  8. Bulgariapublished at 22:11 BST 13 May 2017

This is the THIRD song in the competition which written by Symphonics International. If you haven't heard of them before (ha, yes they sound a bit like a lame Bond villain group don't they?) then here's the deal. They're a deeply talented song writing group who wrote the songs this year for FYR Macedonia and Serbia (who alas crashed out in the semi final). On the plus side they have also written for the likes of Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and (paws up Little Monster) Lady Gaga.

This is why you'll find yourself screaming out the lyrics to Bulgaria's song in the shower tomorrow morning despite having no memory whatsoever of ever learning them. It has been been grown in some dreadful pop music laboratory to push all your Top 40 buttons. The lyrics of Bulgaria's song veer off the beaten pop track and talk about overcoming all the bad things in your life with love. Cute.

Kristian Kostov is 17. He's the youngest performer at Eurovision this year, he's the first Eurovision entrant to be born this century and he's up way past his bedtime.

Along with Italy and Portugal, he's also one of the most hotly tipped acts in this year's contest.

Kostov was born in Moscow and may therefore be in a position to benefit from Russia's departure from the competition.

Russia can't officially participate in the voting, but there are a lot of Russians across Europe who may want to have a say in the result regardless.

Crikey, Kristian's vocal are pretty jaw-dropping aren't they?

He even took time hang out with fellow 17 year old Isaiah who is representing Australia this year. KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE BEERS KYIV SECURITY:

The official video for this is also VERY intriguing.

It features lovely Blanche strutting around the set of 'The Force' or maybe the set of a Volvo advert. At the same a bunch of tasteful, IKEA lamps whizz around an unamed city and we're treated to some moody close ups of Blanche singing into (ahh, about time one of these appeared) a wind machine! Thank you, Gods of Eurovision.

Cards on the table time. City Lights by Blanche - real name Ellie Delvaux - is my favourite song in this year's competition and one I'd genuinely listen to again when I return to the UK.

As I wrote elsewhere on this site, it's a moodily credible piece of ambient pop performed simply before a backdrop of cascading geometrical shapes.

The biggest liability has been Blanche herself, who has never looked entirely comfortable on stage and looks a little out of her depth.

She's only 17 and will gain confidence with age. I only hope she'll give a performance tonight of which she and Belgium can be proud.

  19. Ukrainepublished at 21:51 BST 13 May 2017

    THE HOME TEAM HAS ARRIVED.

This is O. Torvald with 'Time.' This being 2017 they named their last album using a hashtag #OurPeopleAreEverywhere - no doubt a paen to Ukrainian emigration.

The band has never competed in any contest or talent show in the past so they’re really going from zero to hero tonight appearing on this programme.

They are comprised of Yevhen (vocals), Denys (guitar), Oleksandr (drums), Mykita (bass) and Mykola (piano). Good thing there aren't any more of them. Why? *Opens Eurovision rule book* beacuse you can only have SIX people on stage at any one time.

Which is presumably why we never entered S Club 7 on behalf of the United Kingdom.

  20. Germanypublished at 21:50 BST 13 May 2017

If she weren't a singer Levina says she would like to be an air stewardess (watch out Scooch, external!).

Germany have come last in the last two editions of Eurovision which sort of puts paid to the idea that Eurovision is no longer political. This is a very strong, gutsy vocal from Levina though so she  might well be the one to break their losing streak.

If she wins then keep an eye out for her German flag kazoo which she will be sounding with gusto in celebration:
