More
info:
Over 300 million years ago Matlock would have looked very similar to the
Bahamas, we wanted to find out why.
This walk takes you back in time. We dig up some geological gems, uncover
Matlock's shared history with California and the San Andreas Fault, find
out why some plants love the toxic soils and discover if there's any truth
in the rumour that Wallabies go wild in the woods around Matlock Dale.
Lace up
those walking boots and step this way...
We took a walk through time on Otober 16th.
Take a look at the pictures.

Walk
conditions
This is a point to point walk that can be converted into a circular.
The walk starts with a gentle incline and is on hard surface for the first
half mile or so. The section from Starkholmes to the top of High Tor is
on less structured surface with a relatively steep climb through the woods.
You're on
a grassy path in open fields when you reach the top of the Tor. This stretch
is relatively flat. Then it's windy paths with uneven surfaces down towards
the River Derwent.
The final
stretch of the walk is along the flat and into Matlock's parks. Easy access
for everyone.
The walk ends in Matlock but for those wanting to get back to Matlock
Bath there's the option of walking along Matlock's main street then alongside
the Derwent and the A6.
