Buffy decides to try out some everyday activities for a change and
auditions for the Sunnydale Razors' cheerleading squad. Also trying
out is another girl, Amy, who is obviously not first-team material
but is under pressure because her mother, Catherine, was a ''big
cheer queen back when''. With so many girls trying out, Amy seems
a long way off making it onto the team.
Out of the blue, one of the other girls (Amber) spontaneously combusts. And when a series of other potential cheerleaders are afflicted by mysterious accidents, Amy's hopes of making the team are rapidly becoming more realistic. The Slayerettes become suspicious and, after investigation, discover that Amy's mother has used witchcraft to relive her glory days by switching bodies with her daughter. They then defeat Catherine (Robin Riker) and trap her alive inside the cheerleading trophy she won as a student.
