Drug dealers driven out
Regular patrols will continue in Little London
A campaign to get rid of drug dealers from inner-city areas of Leeds has been hailed as a success.
The joint operation by Leeds City Council's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit and the Police's Community Against Drugs Team (CAD) concentrated on Little London and Woodhouse. They claim daily patrols by police and council officers have discouraged drug dealers. A new locally-based police team and a dedicated anti-social behaviour officer have now been installed to continue the work in the Lovell Park and Oatland tower blocks and Carlton Estate. Police have made 21 arrests and seized drugs since the operation began. Council officers served two eviction notices and issued warning letters to nuisance tenants.
