Prison wing plans are put forward
La Moye Prison
A new men's wing opened at the prison in 2003
Plans for a new wing for 40 inmates at Jersey's prison are being considered.

Politicians are being asked to agree the next stage of redevelopment for La Moye, which has had overcrowding problems for the past few years.

The Home Affairs Committee is asking States members to approve plans for a two-storey block with kitchen.

It added that, if approved, more money would be needed for 10 more prison staff and extra running costs. The block could be finished by 2006.

A new men's wing opened in 2003, but work on the women's block was delayed because of a shortage of money.
