Three islanders have been chosen to help decide whether inmates at Jersey's La Moye Prison should be granted temporary release.
The authorities have followed advice in a report and invited independent members on to the assessment panel.
Jersey's chief probation officer Dr Debbie King investigated the scheme at La Moye after several high-profile cases of inmates absonding.
The panel assesses inmates for home leave, day visits and outside work.
From the eight applications received to join the panel, three have been chosen for the honorary position.
They are Michael Smith, Jersey's retired Data Protection Registrar, Francis le Gresley, who manages the Citizens Advice Bureau and Julie Cook, an accounts assistant who has been a counsellor at a centre for young people.
