Seafront improvements go on show

The scheme is designed to improve the look of the town's sea front

The public is being invited to see some of the designs for the planned to improvement to the seafront at Weston- super-Mare.

John Maine, a sculptor working on the seafront enhancements project, will be at the Tropicana Cafe on Friday.

The aim is also to show drawings and invite people to voice their opinions.

Councillor Elfan Ap Rees said: "This major project involves the substantial upgrading of the promenade and the sea wall from Royal Sands to Marine Lake."

The design is also aimed at protecting 4,500 properties and businesses from flooding.

The project has been awarded grant funding of £27.5m from Defra and £1.2m from the South West of England Regional Development Agency.
