Resort's pier opens after revamp

The Grand Pier
The pier has only changed hands three times in its 104-year history

The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare has officially reopened this weekend after a massive revamp.

It was sold earlier this year in a multi-million pound deal to brother and sister Michelle and Kerry Michael.

The quarter-of-a-mile-long pier, which attracts thousands of visitors a year, had been owned by the Brenner family for three generations.

The improvements include new rides, new restaurants, a gift shop and a store selling traditional sweets.

The pier has only changed hands three times in its 104-year history.

Free rides and entertainment are being offered all weekend to mark the official reopening.
