Age Group : 14-16,16+

Subject : Media Studies

Topic : Sport

Keywords : Rugby, World Cup, Ethnography, Stereotypes,

Notes : 1) Discuss the codes used to convey the emotion and atmosphere of the news that Wales are out of the competition - eg. background music, editing, shots, graphics, audience reaction, iconography. 2) Explore the target audience - a broader audience than for a normal rugby programme as there is more interest in the national team during the World Cup. Note that the live audience is a mixture of males and females and note the use of a 'pub' set with leather sofas and punters wearing informal clothes.
