Different
places - different courses
Not all
sixth forms and colleges offer the same range of subjects
or combinations of subjects.
GCE Advanced/AS levels
Large sixth forms, tertiary and sixth form colleges usually
offer a wide range of A/AS levels. Smaller sixth forms and
FE colleges may be more limited.
GNVQs and AVCEs
Colleges usually offer a fairly wide range, depending on size.
Sixth form GNVQ provision varies considerably from school
to school. GNVQ Intermediate could be an alternative to resits; AVCE is an alternative to AS/GCE Advanced.
Job-specific
FE courses
Although sixth forms occasionally offer these courses, you’ll
find most of them in colleges.
