Use of a pit pony at a mine in Alltwen.

A look back to the use of pit ponies in small Welsh mines, showing a miner leading a pit pony and a pit pony pulling a coal truck at a coal mine in Alltwen. Surprisingly this footage dates from 1995 when it would have been expected that the use of ponies underground would have come to an end.
