Reconstruction showing the rent collector collecting rent from coal miners' wives.

Most miners lived in rented accomodation in 1927 so the arrival of the rent collector was a source of worry for coal miners' families; the coal industry was declining and pits were being closed. If the men were at work this fell to the wives at home. This reconstruction shows the process and the worry.
