A Rhondda family tree shows the importance of the railway in the valley.

The Rhondda coal industry produced tons of coal. In early days this coal was transported out of the valley by canal, but later on this transportation was switched to rail. A Tonypandy girl's family tree is used as evidence of the importance of the railway to transport Rhondda coal.
