1982: Grace Kelly dies from car accident injuries

Princess Grace of Monaco dies on 14 September 1982 from injuries sustained in a car crash.

As Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, she had starred in Alfred Hitchcock hits Dial M for Murder and Rear Window. She gave up her acting career when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

The princess was injured in a car crash near Monte Carlo when she lost control of her vehicle. Her daughter, Princess Stéphanie, was also in the car.

She was given a royal funeral at the Cathedral of St Nicholas in Monte Carlo.
