The inquiry into the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence publishes its findings in February 1999.
The black teenager was killed in an unprovoked knife attack by five white youths in south-east London six years earlier.
The inquiry found the Metropolitan Police investigation was “marred by a combination of professional incompetence, institutional racism and a failure of leadership by senior officers".
