Heavy snowstorms caused severe disruption across the UK in February 2009.

Wales and western England bore the brunt of the Arctic conditions, as freezing temperatures caused treacherous conditions for commuters.

Some hospitals cancelled non-emergency operations, while the closure of schools meant a day off for thousands of children.
