1965: Boris Karloff on why he doesn't like the word 'horror'

Boris Karloff's eerie portrayal of the Monster in Universal Pictures' Frankenstein in 1931 helped to make him a leading star of the golden age of horror, but it wasn't a label he enjoyed.

Interviewed in 1965, he revealed that he preferred the term 'terror' to 'horror' and claimed that "everybody likes to believe there is something around the corner".

Reflecting on his career, he explained that it took him 20 years before he, "had the luck to play a part and...was typecast".
