2011: 'Occupy’ protests spread across the world
Protests against economic inequality are held throughout the world on 15 October 2011.
Demonstrations are held in 82 countries, organised by activists inspired by the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protests in New York and the anti-austerity movement in Spain.
Thousands gather outside of St Paul’s Cathedral as part of the ‘Occupy London’ movement, which was later located to Finsbury Square. The final protesters were evicted in June 2012.
