With the withdrawal of his more famous compatriot Goran Ivanisevic, Ljubicic carries the hopes of Croatia.

That is a bit unfortunate for the Balkan nation as the 23-year-old has never won a match at Wimbledon.

Ljubicic had a good run after last year's tournament, triumphing in Lyon last August, a week after taking the runner's-up spot in Grenoble.

This year, his results have been patchy, the highlight being a semi-final appearance in February in Rotterdam, where he was beaten by Tim Henman.
