McGeeney wins GPA honour
The Mullaghbawn native won a Seat Leon for his prize which was presented by Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.
McGeeney captained Armagh to their emotional All-Ireland triumph over Kerry in September. The Na Fianna clubman is a certainty to pick up an Allstar next month. Kilkenny's Henry Shefflin was named hurler of the year and also won a Seat Leon. The prizes were the most expensive individual honours handed out in GAA history. GPA members voted by postal ballot in what is the only players' player-of-the-year awards in the GAA.
