Okoronkwo gets Newcastle trial

Nigeria defender Isaac Okoronkwo has begun trials with English Premiership club Newcastle United.
Okoronkwo, who partners Everton centre-back Jospeh Yobo at international level, is currently on the books of Ukraine side Shakhtar Donetsk.
If Okoronkwo impresses, he is exprected to cost Newcastle between £2m and £3m. Newcastle manager Bobby Robson is keen to see an improvement in the defensive capabilities of his team - although they are eighth in the Premiership, only the bottom five sides have conceded more goals. Okoronkwo will be joined on Thursday by 21-year-old Chinese goalkeeper An Qi, also on trial from Dalian Shide. |
