As the number one ranked Frenchman over the last two years, Grosjean carries a heavy burden at Roland Garros.
The Parisian crowd is demanding and expects the home players to perform - something Grosjean failed to do when he was demolished by Marat Safin in the quarters last year.
And despite being consistently ranked inside the world's top 20, the former junior world number one has failed to progress as much as expected in the last 12 months.
The 25-year-old's world ranking dropped by 10 places over the course of 2002.
It took until October for the Frenchman to reach his first final of the year and he took advantage, beating Mikhail Youzhny in St Petersburg.
This year has already seen a more impressive set of displays at the Australian Open, where he lost to Andre Agassi in the last eight.
But at just 5 ft 9 in, Grosjean needs to be at his very best to fight off the more powerful players on the tour, although he does possess a rasping forehand.
