That she remains the number one Russian says a good deal about the 22-year-old's consistency, bearing in mind the strength of her compatriots.
She is an established top-10 player and picked up the seventh tournament win of her career when successfully retaining her Doha title in March.
Like most of her fellow Russians, Myskina has a tidy game from the back of the court, and also boasts a neat touch at the net.
However, her record against the likes of the Williams sisters, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriati is poor.
This year she has already suffered heavy defeats to Capriati, Kim Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne - the latter a 6-1 6-1 drubbing in the Indian Wells semis.
