Sir Clive Woodward
Weakened by retirements and injuries to a host of players, including Jonny Wilkinson, England suffered in the immediate aftermath of the World Cup.

They finished third in the 2004 Six Nations and endured a disastrous summer tour down under, losing heavily to New Zealand (twice) and Australia.

Things went from bad to worse when World Cup-winning coach Sir Clive Woodward quit in September, citing irreconcileable differences with his RFU bosses over the structure of English rugby.
