Halifax boot out Hammond
Netherton could make his bow against Saints
Former St Helens and Great Britain stand-off Karle Hammond has played his last game for Halifax.
Just 24 hours after he was named in the Wales squad for November's clash with New Zealand, the 28-year-old has been told he has no future at the Shay. "Karle Hammond has not attended training for three weeks," said coach Steve Linnane. "We are in negotiations with his management about the termination of his contract."
Meanwhile, the Blue Sox look set to conclude a loan deal with Leeds Rhinos second-rower Jason Netherton. The 19-year-old could feature against St Helens at Knowsley Road on Friday night. "It is a great chance for Jason," said Linnane. "I have spoken to him a couple of times and he is looking forward to the challenge."
