Kevin Painter claimed a tense 4-3 win over Andy Jenkins to earn a chance at gaining revenge over Phil Taylor at the Ladbrokes World Championship.
The 37-year-old, who lost to Taylor in a sudden-death leg in last year's final, will now take on the 11-times world champion in the quarter-finals.
Also through to the last eight is 57-year-old Bob Anderson, who came from 2-0 down to beat Ronnie Baxter 4-2.
He will take on qualifier Andy Hamilton who beat Josephus Schenk 4-1.
"I was being pasted but Ronnie went off a fraction," said Anderson.

"I'm actually playing better than I was 16 or 17 years ago but I've got to because the game has progressed so much since then."
Painter struggled to shrug off Jenkins but he took a clean sweep of the final set to secure victory.
"I'm not firing on all cylinders," he said. "I've got a lot of personal problems at the moment and I can't clear my head so I'm struggling a bit.
"But I can dig in when I need to and Phil knows I will give him a tough match again on Saturday."
Hamilton was forced to work hard for victory against his fellow qualifier and lost the first set in a nervy opening.
However the 37-year-old soon found his rhythm and won the next four sets to secure a last-eight clash against Anderson.
"I can't believe the run I'm having - all my Christmases have come at once," he said.
"I was more nervous against Josephus than in any of my previous matches because I really wanted to be the last qualifier and I didn't prepare properly.
"I didn't play my own game and played the opponent instead of the board. I was thinking about it too much and put myself under too much pressure.
"But I've got this far so why shouldn't I go a bit further?"
