China triumph in doubles
Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei
Chinese top seeds Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei beat compatriots Huang Sui and Gao Ling 7-15 15-4 15-8 to take gold in the badminton women's doubles.

Zhang and Yang started slowly but moved up a gear in the second game as China claimed their third badminton gold.

Zhang won the match with a strong smash at the end of a thrilling rally.

South Korea's Ra Kyung-min and Lee Kyung-won beat Zhao Tingting and Wein Yili 10-15 15-9 15-7 to win bronze and deny China a clean sweep of medals.

Winners of four of the five badminton golds on offer in Sydney, China have taken three this time around.

Zhang Ning won the women's singles, while Zhang Jun and Gao Ling were victorious in the mixed doubles.
