Scotland winger Findlay Curtis was on target as Rangers continued their pre-season preparations with a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs.

The match was played behind closed doors in Spain and new recruits Ben Godfrey, Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil and Lawrence Shankland all featured.

Having fallen behind to the South African side on 77 minutes, 20-year-old substitute Curtis levelled late in the game with a dipping shot.

  2. Devlin a 'great signing' but questions over Raskin futurepublished at 11:38 BST

    Your Opinions graphic

Rangers supporters' views on Cammy Devlin signing...

Norrie: He had a special relationship with the Hearts fans due to his overall journey with them. He will quickly realise the threshold is higher at Rangers.

Graham: What will he bring that we don't already have in Barron, Diamonde, Aasgard, Raskin, Neil et al? And rumours of more midfielders to come? We're either going to have a squad of like-for-like midfielders or this signals an exodus of many of the aforementioned players.

John: Bye bye Raskin - can't have Raskin and Devlin in same team, too similar. However, Rangers will make a healthy profit out of it and the team will not be diminished.

Craig: Not enamoured by the signing of Devlin, or any of the new players, with the exception of Shankland. Don't feel like he's an upgrade on anything we've got.

Angy: Great signing, looks like McInnes has a plan!

Jimmy: I thought he was one of Hearts' best players last season, if he can bring his A game to Rangers then I think he can be a really great addition to the squad, no silly bookings that will lead to sitting in the stand and I think Derek McInnes might just have made one of his best signings, so I'm happy with what's happening at Rangers, a good signing.

  4. What will Devlin bring to Rangers?published at 12:56 BST 11 July

Sections of the Rangers support have long called on the club to recruit the Scottish Premiership's best talent, and the Ibrox hierarchy appear to be acting on that this summer.

Both Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin were among Hearts' standout players as they came within minutes of a historic Scottish top-flight triumph.

The Ibrox club have signed both without needing to pay a transfer fee and have also plucked manager Derek McInnes from Tynecastle.

"Cammy is obviously a player I know, and I am well aware of what he will offer to Rangers," McInnes said.

"His levels of consistency for me were superb, and he is the type of player that every manager wants in his team."

Devlin made the most tackles per 90 minutes in the Premiership last season, and among midfielders he ranked second for interceptions, second for defensive contributions and third for recoveries.

Some Rangers fans have expressed concerns about his work on the ball while playing for a team that will dominate possession in most domestic games.

But there were only four Premiership midfielders who completed more accurate passes per 90 minutes than Devlin last season. One of those was Rangers' Nicolas Raskin.

"He is someone who knows the Scottish league, and nothing will surprise him with what lies ahead," manager McInnes added.

"I am looking forward to welcoming Cammy to Rangers and working with him again after he returns from his holiday."

    Have your say

Cammy Devlin, who has signed a two-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months at Rangers, is the third significant arrival at Ibrox from Hearts this summer.

The Australia midfielder says it is "an absolute honour and privilege" to join the Govan club on a free transfer after leaving Tynecastle.

Rangers say their recent £16m share issue has "been completed and was fully subscribed by a broad group of existing shareholders".

The club announced in March their intention to raise the sum of new capital to fund investment in the men's first team.

A shareholder meeting will take place on 10 August

"The club would like to thank everyone who participated for their continued support and investment in Rangers," the club said.

"Although Rangers is now a private company, the club remains committed to engaging with shareholders.

"The meeting will provide shareholders with the opportunity to hear directly from the club's ownership and leadership team, receive an update on the progress being made across the club and ask questions about our plans for the future."

Rangers, third in last season's Scottish Premiership, are preparing for the 2026-27 season, with new manager Derek McInnes overseeing a squad revamp and five players recruited so far.

  9. 'Natural' time for Rangers to sell Raskin - Hallidaypublished at 16:26 BST 9 July

Belgium midfielder Nicolas RaskinImage source, Getty Images

A move from Rangers for Belgium midfielder Nicolas Raskin would seem "natural" to former Ibrox player Andy Halliday.

Raskin, 25, has made 145 appearances and scored 13 goals since joining Rangers midway through the 2022-23 season.

At the World Cup, he has taken his tally of caps to 18.

"He's got all the attributes," Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"The negative about Nico Raskin is he tries to do too much. He tries to be part of the build-up, he tries to break into the box, he tries to cover for people when it's not really on.

"Rangers haven't done a good enough job at selling players when their value is highest. At this moment in time, off the back of the World Cup, Nico Raskin's value is extremely high.

"Rangers have already recruited in the middle of the pitch and by all accounts, there's rumoured to be a couple more.

"If you can recoup a hefty fee for Nico Raskin, which I think it looks almost inevitable at this moment in time, then I think it's just a natural thing and the best thing for all parties."

  10. Chermiti & Naderi 'perfect foils' for Shankland - Hallidaypublished at 16:17 BST 9 July

Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi scored 18 Rangers goals between them last term

Andy Halliday believes Rangers have the "perfect foils" for new striker Lawrence Shankland in Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi.

Chermiti and Naderi often partnered each other in attack last season, with Shankland set to join up with Rangers' squad soon after having represented Scotland at the World Cup.

"In Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi, I think it's two perfect foils for Lawrence Shankland," former Rangers midfielder Halliday told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"Two big athletic players with physical profiles who can do a bit more running than Lawrence Shankland probably can.

"And it allows Lawrence Shankland to stay in the penalty box and in between the goal frame where he's such a threat."

Scotland is in for another three-way title race this coming season, former Celtic captain Scott Brown has predicted.

Celtic retained the title on the final day of last season with a home win over Hearts to overtake the long-time leaders, with Rangers having slipped to third in the final weeks.

Since then, Hearts have lost head coach Derek McInnes to Rangers, replacing him with former Sint-Truiden boss Wouter Vrancken, while Celtic have given veteran Martin O'Neill the manager's job full-time after he did so well in interim charge.

"I think it's going to be a three-legged race yet again," Brown said, speaking at the Scottish Open golf pro-am.

"I think Hearts have been an actual delight for Scottish football. They've done really, really well. I thought Derek did a fantastic job and Martin's come in at the right point in time.

"If Martin was there for the whole time, Celtic win the league, nice and easy, but Del's went to Rangers now and he's a very, very good man-manager and he brings out the best of people.

"Looking at what he does and how he deals with his team, he'll bring in some more Scottish people, English-based people, that understand the club and the culture as well, which, to be fair, I think Celtic's done really well over the years."

  13. McGregor returns to Rangers as lead goalkeeping coachpublished at 18:32 BST 8 July

    Allan McGregorImage source, SNS

Rangers Hall of Fame inductee Allan McGregor has returned to Ibrox as lead goalkeeping coach, the Scottish Premiership club have confirmed.

The 44-year-old replaces Sal Bibbo, who left last month to join Coventry City.

McGregor made more than 500 appearances for Rangers before retiring in 2023 and is "really excited" to be back.

"Everyone knows what this club means to me, so to have the opportunity to return and help the club in the present and future is a real privilege," he told Rangers' website.

"Rangers is a club that demands the very highest standards and I'm looking forward to getting started, working with the players and staff, and seeing what we can achieve together in this next chapter."

Manager Derek McInnes welcomed "a fantastic addition" with "a wealth of experience".

"He knows exactly what it takes to be successful at Rangers and understands the standards that are required every day," he added.

"His knowledge, expertise and winning mentality will be a huge asset to the group and I am looking forward to working closely with him as we continue our preparations for the season ahead."

Rangers have announced a pre-season friendly with Ian Cathro's Saint-Etienne on Wednesday, 22 July at Ibrox.

The 39-year-old Scot was appointed this summer as head coach of the side who finished third in the French second tier last season.

He had earned praise after leading Estoril to 10th place in the 18-strong Primeira Liga in Portugal.

Cathro started his coaching career with Dundee United and had a short spell in charge of Hearts but was sacked in August 2017 after a disappointing eight months in charge.

However, he has since worked as assistant at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Al-Ittihad before moving to Estoril in 2024.

During his time with Hearts, he faced an Aberdeen side led by new Rangers manager Derek McInnes three times, losing them all.

Rangers have twice faced Saint-Etienne in European competition, with the Glasgow team winning 4-3 on aggregate in the European Cup first round in 1957, while the side from the Loir region won home and away in the second round in 1975.

The match against Cathro's side will be Rangers' first public pre-season game and will be followed four days later with a match against West Ham United, newly relegated to England's Championship, also at Ibrox.

Rangers this week beat Championship side Raith Rovers 5-1 in a closed-doors friendly.

Belgium midfielder Nicolas Raskin said his team felt a "sense of injustice" over United States striker Folarin Balogun's one-match ban being suspended by Fifa shortly before their World Cup last-16 match.

Balogun, 25, appeared certain to miss the tie in Seattle after being shown a straight red card for a foul on Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Tarik Muharemovic in the previous round.

But on Sunday Fifa suspended the automatic one-match ban for 12 months, leading to widespread criticism, with Uefa, Belgium and England boss Thomas Tuchel among those speaking out against the ruling.

On Monday US President Donald Trump said he asked Fifa to review Balogun's ban, which he said would have left a "big stain" on the tournament.

But, despite the American's star striker being cleared to play and starting the match, Belgium convincingly beat the tournament co-hosts 4-1.

"A lot has happened off the pitch over the last two days," said Belgium and Rangers midfielder Raskin.

"There was a sense of injustice within the squad, and we were determined to respond on the field."

  22. No regrets from Godfrey as centre-half aims to lead at Ibroxpublished at 12:00 BST 3 July

Ben Godfrey has signed for Rangers on a season-long loanImage source, SNS

New Rangers loan signing Ben Godfrey insists he "learned a lot" from his move to Atalanta despite very limited playing time in Italy.

The 28-year-old centre-half made just five appearances from the bench for the Serie A side, totalling 93 minutes, after a £10m switch from Everton in the summer of 2024.

Since then, he has had loan spells at Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Brondby in Denmark.

"I learned a lot, football wise," he said of his half-season with the Bergamo club. "The game is played completely different; tactically, technically.

"Although I didn't get many minutes, there are still plenty of things I can take from that period."

Rangers will have the option to buy Godfrey at the end of the season and he is keen to take on a leadership role for Derek McInnes' side.

"I'm looking forward to all the challenges and excited to work under the manager," he said.

"The characteristics of the club suit me - when you look at the history and size of the club, it's the perfect place to be.

"If you don't have any pressure then you're not at the level you want to be. It's a given at a club of this size that there's going to be pressure, so it's important to use that in a positive way.

"I don't regret anything from my career. I learn from every week that goes by and I can use all of that experience to be as successful as I can here.

"At 28, I have experienced a lot - I can drive standards every day, that's the type of character I am.

"I'm someone that will always be around to help young players and teach them what it takes to break through at this level.

"I like to lead, I can bring that personality to the pitch."

Godfrey, capped twice by England in 2021, was Rangers' third signing of the summer after Scotland internationals Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie, with goalkeeper Ivor Pandur and midfielder Dan Neil since added.

"The manager is big on character, making sure the right kind of people are in the building," he added.

"We all want to push the club forward."
