State of play: England

Were there racist chants at the game?
Not at all. The assistant referee took endless abuse for flagging Steve Claridge and Paul Ifill offside, but of racist chants from either set of fans there was not a squeak.

Ratio between racial groups in the stands and on the pitch?
Millwall had three black players, goalkeeper Tony Warner, full-back Glen Johnson and Ifill; Derby had young striker Izale McLeod.

In the stands it was a different story - there was hardly a face to be seen that was not white.

Any racist banners, flags or graffiti in the ground or surrounding streets?
None. There were very few unofficial banners or any graffiti of any sort.

Were non-white players targeted by sections of the crowd?
Any abuse directed at players was entirely as a result of a poor first touch or a mis-hit clearance, not the colour of their skin.

Was there any visible anti-racist action from the club or police?

Yes - there was a pitch-side hoarding promoting the Kick It Out anti-racism week, and stickers were being given out with the motto, "Lions have pride not prejudice."
