Portugal's Paulo Ferreira was happy with his side's perseverance
Turkey coach Fatih Terim said Portugal's class proved too much for his team, who lost their Euro 2008 opener 2-0 in Geneva.
Goals from Pepe and Raul Meireles gave the Portuguese a deserved victory in a match where they hit the woodwork on three occasions.
"It wasn't easy to play against Portugal - they have world renowned players," stated Terim.
"Nevertheless we worked very hard and tried to score and attack."
He added: "We tried to keep the game on an equal footing but then we conceded the goal.
"It was unfortunate as we lost the ball, conceded the goal just when we could have perhaps done something but, as I say, it's not easy to play against Ronaldo, Simao, and the others."
Pepe opens the scoring in the 61st minute
