Rangers duo anxious for medals
Claudio Caniggia in action for Rangers
Claudio Caniggia has not won a medal for 11 years
Rangers winger Neil McCann is anxious to complete his collection of domestic medals by picking up a CIS Insurance Cup winner's medal on Sunday.

The player last appeared in a League Cup final in 1996 when he lined up against Rangers for Hearts in a thrilling 4-3 win for the Ibrox side.

McCann was in inspired form that day, but was unable to help Hearts to victory, and he badly wants to put that right against Ayr United.

"It was nice to play well in a cup final and with the 4-3 scoreline I'm sure it must have been brilliant to watch. But that was scant consolation for me given the fact I was on the losing side," McCann told Rangers' official website.

Ayr will be keen to add another SPL scalp to their lengthy list
Neil McCann
"I said at the time personal accolades were pointless because all I had was a runners-up medal to show for my efforts.

"I would much rather have had a complete stinker but ended up getting my hands on the trophy.

"The League Cup winner's medal is the only domestic one I don't have, but I¿m confident that can be put right on Sunday providing we go out with the right attitude.

"We¿ve got great players and if we can perform on the day then we can definitely win the trophy. But Ayr have been magnificent this season, and will be keen to add another SPL scalp to their lengthy list."

Argentine striker Claudio Caniggia is another member of the Rangers squad desperate to pick up a winner's medal on Sunday.

He has gone 11 years without a piece of silverware and wants to remedy that as early as possible.

"We will do everything we can to win against Ayr on Sunday and it would be good for me to get a winner's medal," the 35-year-old told the Rangers website.

"We have a chance to win a cup, and every trophy is important for us."
