Dravid has played, and always will play, in the considerable shadow of the venerated Sachin Tendulkar.
It is something the multi-talented Dravid has managed with great maturity, for his record stands up favourably with that of the Little Master.
A career average of 54.3 in Tests marks Dravid as one of the game's greats, even if his unfussy, compact style means his best efforts often go un-noticed.
Nicknamed The Wall because he borders on the impenetrable, and certainly Australia could find no way through when he scored an unheralded 180 to help VVS Laxman sink them at Calcutta in 2001.
Dravid will be determined to make up for a poor showing on his only previous tour Down Under, where he managed just 93 runs in six innings.
