I've taken a trip this afternoon to one of the hubs of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, an arts programme which runs alongside the Games.
The MEET Digital Culture Center in the middle of Milan last week hosted the Visioni D'Alta Quota, which saw young Italian creatives reinterpreting Lombardy's sporting heritage into contemporary video art.
And throughout the remainder of these Games, MEET will host the 2026 Pride House - a series of events to shine a spotlight on sports and LGBTQIA+ rights.
Bruce Mouat - currently helping GB storm the mixed curling competition - is an official Pride House ambassador at Milan-Cortina 2026.

Previously what we have seen is Jen Dodds playing the big shot to get the scores, but Bruce Mouat is helping here and his performance is really coming on.
I would say Team GB have controlled the ice, they are managing the weight and managing the stones.

What's to come on day one?
There are three more gold medals to be won on the first official day in Italy:
15:00-16:00 - Women's 3,000m speed skating - Dutch world champion Joy Beune among favourites following snub for 1500m event
17:45-20:00 - Women's ski jumping - normal hill - Slovenia's Nika Prevc is favourite and vying to become youngest woman to win an Olympic ski jumping title
18:30-20:30 - Men's snowboard - big air - four Japanese riders in final 12 with Hiroto Ogiwara finishing top in qualifying
Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodd had a good discussion about what to do with their next stone with Great Britain's national coach before taking their next shot.
Really interesting to hear how they analyse their next move!

I thought the Winter Olympics opening ceremony festivities were over but clearly not in Livigno.
We've been treated to this musical parade with teddies in hot air balloons making their way through the streets of the ski resort to the bemusement of locals.

The Cortina Curling Stadium is a curious wee place.
Originally built to host the 1956 Games, much of the original structure has been preserved, with wooden bleachers around the sides of the arena. It looks magnificent.
But whose names might appear on a plaque outside like this one after these Games?
Chris McCormick gets off to a stellar start on the first rail section, but he comes off the rainbow rail early and then comes up short on the next jump.
He gets a score of 33.90 which leaves him outside of the top 12.
