Over the past few weeks, Jack Draper and Andy Murray have been working on the practice courts at the National Tennis Centre in London as Draper recovers from more fitness problems.

Former world number four Draper has lost his place at the top of the men's game after a range of injuries over the past year, but starts his latest comeback at Eastbourne this week in a bid to prove his fitness for Wimbledon.

Murray - who also experienced physical issues in the first part of his career - hopes the partnership will be a long-term venture.

"I think Jack's a brilliant player. There is no doubt that when he gets back on the court he will perform well and win matches at the highest level," Murray said.

"But right now the focus is on trying to get him back competing consistently again."

Jack Draper unleashes two huge serves to get his next service game up and running and Marcos Giron can't quite deal with the pace.

Another easy hold for Draper. It doesn't look like he's been out of action for two months, but it's early days.

It never felt as though Andy Murray would be away from tennis for long - but his planned return to the All England Club with Draper this summer is still a surprise.

The 39-year-old had been enjoying life outside tennis in the 12 months since he stopped coaching old rival Novak Djokovic, spending time with wife Kim and their four children as well as honing his golf game and diversifying his business interests.

    So what changed?

"After I stopped working with Novak, I had a number of opportunities to coach again," he explained.

"I had no interest in being on the road and away from my family.

"It wasn't that I disliked coaching - I just didn't enjoy it more than I do being at home with my family.

"When Jack asked me, I thought about it, spoke to my wife and told Jack that I'd love to help him."

Marcos Giron replies with a straightforward hold of his own, but the good news is that Jack Draper looks like he's moving pretty freely out there.

  8. Relationship with Murray is 'very special'published at 14:24 BST 22 June

Jack Draper says that his relationship with new coach Andy Murray is "very special".

Murray has joined up with Draper for the grass-court season but told BBC Sport he he hopes to work with him on a long-term basis.

"I've lost a lot of confidence in my body over the last year and having someone who believes in you is a big positive," Draper added.

"Our relationship is very special, and that gives me a bit more energy, especially in a moment where I'm coming back and need to have that good energy around me."

    *Giron 0-1 Draper

A confident start for Jack Draper on his return after two months out.

The Briton slams down a couple of winners to help open up a 40-0 lead before smashing the ball into the net.

But Marcos Giron misses on the next point and it's a comfortable hold for Draper.

Jack Draper says he felt he was watching his own decline during his recent injury struggles - but the Briton does not picture his career "being all injuries".

The 24-year-old has with injuries to his arm, knee and shoulder in the past year - starting at last summer's Wimbledon, when he was having the best run of his career.

In an 18-month period, Draper reached a Grand Slam semi-final, reached a high of fourth in the world rankings and won his first ATP 1000 title at Indian Wells.

"Tennis is a tough sport because I was top 10 in the world, doing great things, and you're losing your ranking every week," Draper said.

"It's not like a football team where you can have a substitute come in and take your place. It's like you're watching your decline.

"I don't believe I'm an injured athlete - I'm a strong athlete. I don't picture my career being all injuries."
