Hossein Vafaei is putting Si Jiahui under so much pressure because all of the momentum is with him and there is still another frame to be played.

    What a turnaround.

    Si 3-5 Vafaei

Hossein Vafaei wins a fourth frame on the bounce - this is very impressive from the Iranian.

Vafaei produces a break of 60, but the cue ball doesn't fall kindly and he's left with a tricky red.

He plays a safety to end the break, and responds to a safety from Si Jiahui with a superb long red.

Si stays in his seat and Vafaei wins 76-0.

  4. Vafaei wins third frame in a rowpublished at 17:28 BST 22 April

    Si 3-4 Vafaei

Hossein Vafaei is in full flow right now.

Si Jiahui barely has a sniff as his Iranian opponent builds a break of 61 to take the seventh frame 91-0.

Vafaei trailed 1-3 at the mid-session interval, but three wins in a row gives him the lead for the first time today.

From what we've seen today, Si Jiahui has let this one slip a bit.

Hossein Vafaei has done very well to get back into this match. There is the possibility that he can get stronger for the next three games.

I'm not saying that Si is there for the taking, but I'd say Vafaei's break-building is a little bit stronger. But the second session is where it really matters.

That frame was evidence of Vafaei's great cueing, he has got excellent cue power.

His cues are lovely and straight, keeps it nice and simple on the backswing.

Now he's back in the match.

  7. Vafaei levels the matchpublished at 17:13 BST 22 April

    Si 3-3 Vafaei

Hossein Vafaei compiles a break of 33 and thinks he's halted Si's fightback with a snooker.

But the Iranian is left with his head in his hands as Si's hit-and-hope somehow comes off.

Si made two incredible long reds in the previous frame, but this time Vafaei produces one of his own.

At 24 points behind and just the pink and black left on the table, Si requires two snookers - Vafaei escapes his attempts and takes the frame 61-31 to level the match.

    Si 3-2 Vafaei

Si Jiahui is a wonderful potter, but the one area where he may be able to tighten up is more accurate positional play. He's a little bit loose with the cue ball.

It's ultra critical as he is a great player, but he let that break slip earlier.

When you are such a good potter, sometimes you don't worry so much about positional play because you can knock them in all over the place. But at top class level, sometimes you can get found out.

  9. Vafaei pulls one backpublished at 16:41 BST 22 April

    Si 3-2 Vafaei

Hossein Vafaei comes back from the mid-session interval in fine form.

Si Jiahui hammers in a couple of fantastic long reds to go 20 points ahead, but is powerless to stop Hossein Vafaei responding with an impressive break of 81.

That should be a confidence booster for the Iranian.

And he did it in style.

  12. Si restores two-frame leadpublished at 16:08 BST 22 April

    Si 3-1 Vafaei

Frame four started cagily, with both players making safety shots and Si committing a foul.

Si then fluked a red in off the pack, but the cue ball didn't fall nicely and nestled right up alongside the brown.

He nominated the black and made a fantastic long pot, but an unfavourable rebound caused his break to falter at 23.

Hossein Vafaei was unable to gain a foothold, and Si produced another pin-point long pot on his way to winning 85-4 .

The 23-year-old takes a two-frame lead into the mid-session interval.

Hossein Vafaei beat Barry Hawkins in the first round at the Crucible last year before losing 13-10 to Mark Williams.

An injury wrecked the start of this season but an intensive physio programme got him back playing, although he then had a poor run of results following his return.

"With my injury, I took two or three months [out] and after that I lost my form," he added. "It was a shoulder problem, it was hurting my fingers and all the nerves on my left side.

"It was tough to get back my form and to find something and the struggles started from there.

"I'm under lots of pressure. I'm not having a good season. A lot of people have been like 'where is he? what's he doing?'. They're thinking I've stopped playing snooker.

"I've had a tough year mentally, personally, and everything."

What a world class break from Hossein Vafaei.

It illustrates the kind of player he is. That refusal to leave the table. He's so aggressive, he loves to go for his shots.

Ronnie still plays very quickly. John [Higgins] has slowed down a bit. That can change the dynamic of the match.

They keep on regenerating themselves. It is fantastic. I don't know how they keep doing it.

Seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan quickly wrapped up a 10-2 victory over China's He Guoqiang to set up a mouth-watering last-16 tie against four-time winner John Higgins.

O'Sullivan, 50, will now play another member of snooker's fabled 'Class of 92', which also includes Higgins, 50, and 51-year-old Mark Williams - after the trio turned professional in 1992.

The last-16 tie against Higgins will start on Saturday evening (19:00 BST), with further sessions on Sunday evening and Monday afternoon (13:00 BST).

O'Sullivan is aiming to win eight world titles, an achievement which would move him clear of Stephen Hendry's seven and set a new record for the modern era.

  17. Vafaei gets off the markpublished at 15:38 BST 22 April

    Si 2-1 Vafaei

That's more like it from Hossein Vafaei.

The Iranian compiled a superb break of 65, before he returned to the table to edge a red into the corner and secure the frame.

Si Jiahui conceded and Vafaei takes the third frame 73-4.

  18. O'Sullivan to be 'underdog' against Higginspublished at 15:29 BST 22 April

    O'Sullivan 10-2 He

Ronnie O'Sullivan speaking to BBC Sport, after a 10-2 first round win over He Guoqiang: "It's still rusty Ron. I think the tip is more important than the cue to be honest. That's why I brought two cues. I have been saving this all year because it had a bit of life in it and I thought if I come here and my main cue is no good then I'd rather have a cue I like with a good tip on because I can get used to anything pretty quickly.

"The tip wasn't good yesterday. I did a good job considering. A bit of a roll of the dice, a gamble, I was a bit nervous because I thought I could look a bit silly but you have to back yourself. I make some crazy decisions in everyone else's eyes but they make complete sense to me and it's seemed to work over the years so I tend to listen to my own advice.

On facing John Higgins in the last 16: "A couple of oldies. I was saying just hanging around this venue I feel kind of old now because everyone is 22, 23, it's like walking into a creche but we are still hanging around and having a go. I am not the player I was and probably never will be but as long as I can enjoy the game..I am starting to enjoy it again. I am getting through the ball but still not good enough to win these events, I have to rely on a bit of luck.

"John loves playing me. I think he plays better than me than I play against him. I think in a way I will be a bit of an underdog because I've hardly played over the last three years compared to John. He's probably favourite but it's a different type of pressure."

You can't ask for better than that. Such a great positional player and makes it look so easy. Always in control. Leaves balls over pockets for later in the break.

Si Jiahui compiled a break of 48 before playing a safety shot that left Vafaei with no chance of potting.

Vafaei returned and potted a red and a blue to get himself on the scoreboard, but then saw a relatively simple red bounce about the jaws of the pocket and stay out.

The Iranian was fortunate to not accidently pot the cue ball at 35 points behind, and played safe on the brown when he could have been more adventurous.

Vafaei needed a few snookers, but carried on just to try and build some momentum.

Si lacked the efficiency he showed in the first frame, but finally he finished the frame off 70-14.
