    Rachel Philipps (con Helen Nelson)

Rachel Philipps goes over on her first start for Scotland.

From the collapsed maul, the ball is cycled to Meryl Smith who finds Philipps and the centre punches over. Lea Murie had no chance of stopping her.

Helen Nelson converts. Scotland are ahead.

    Scotland 0-5 France

Every successful line-out throw from Elis Martin is cheered heartily by the Edinburgh crowd.

Meryl Smith puts in a big box kick and Carla Arbez makes a mess of catching it over her shoulder.

Another line-out for Scotland, this one deep in French territory.

  4. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Scotland 0-5 France

High fives and roars all round from Scotland as four or five players combine to hold up France fly-half Carla Arbez.

They'll have a scrum on the edge of France's 22 but first... the referee needs some assistance with her radio pack.

  5. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Scotland 0-5 France

Scotland's line-out is under serious pressure. Elis Martin has just been pinged for a dummy throw.

But after a scrappy passage in the middle of the park, Scotland come up with the ball.

Neither side has really found their rhythm in this match yet.

  6. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Scotland 0-5 France

French second row Charlotte Escudero is a machine. From the line-out, France quickly switch play from the right flank to the left and back again before Escudero powers forward through a couple of players.

There's a high tackle in the next phase but although France win the resulting line-out, Mathilde Lazarko spills the ball.

Scotland get out of jail through Rhona Lloyd, who charges along her own try-line and away from danger before Scotland kick it free.

  7. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Scotland 0-5 France

Another Scotland line-out goes into French hands. Hooker Elis Martin is one from three in the opening eight minutes.

  8. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Scotland 0-5 France

Oh it's going from bad to worse for Scotland, losing their line-out and allowing Pauline Barrat to flee up the field.

France knock-on but Scotland have lost a good 50 metres in territory.

  9. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Scotland 0-5 France

France are penalised for not staying square at the scrum. With a penalty on the halfway line, Scotland kick for the corner.

    They'll have a line-out.

I don't want to make home fans feel any worse but...

France haven't lost to Scotland in the Women's Six Nations since 2010, although they were held to a 13-13 draw in 2020.

Past five Women's Six Nations meetings:

    • 2025 - France 38-15 Scotland
    • 2024 - Scotland 5-15 France
    • 2023 - France 55-0 Scotland
    • 2022 - Scotland 8-28 France

    Manae Feleu (con missed)

    Nightmare start for Scotland.

The hosts spilled the ball from kick-off and France make them pay with barely 50 seconds on the board. So much for them being slow starters... what do I know?

It's a smart finish from Manae Feleu in the right corner, just keeping her legs in play as the Scottish defence scrambles for the tackle.

    Carla Arbez misses the conversion.

  12. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

    Scotland 0-0 France

France get this match under way and are immediately on the attack as Scotland fail to gather a bouncing ball.

They're already crossed the five-metre line...

    Scotland v France (16:15 BST)

It's been a challenging campaign for Scotland, who sit fifth in the table.

After opening their account with a hard-fought 24-19 win over Wales, they leaked 12 tries in an 84-7 pummelling at the hands of England before losing 41-14 to Italy in round three.

France, by contrast, have completed three comfortable bonus-point wins as they target a first Women's Six Nations title since 2018.

They've scored 104 points, including 16 tries, and conceded just 21 (the best defensive record in the tournament).

While they have been guilty of starting slowly (they were level 7-7 with both Ireland and Wales at half-time and only led Italy 5-0), they've powered through sides in the second period - something they'll be confident of doing again given Scotland's inexperienced bench.
