Man of the match, Malcolm Marx, speaking on TNT Sports: "You can tell by the way that I look it was [as crazy to play in as it was to watch]. It's always a tough outing against Ireland, they are a quality side and they kept going until the end.

"The character they showed was immense. They had 12 players on the field and still kept us out for a good number of minutes. It shows the bond they have as a team. "

I think the referee got the calls right for the most part and there was some really poor discipline at times from Ireland.

A huge credit to Ireland for sticking in that game even down to 12 men. They maybe aren't the team they were over the past couple of years but thety showed massive heart.

However, South Africa are the best team in the world for a reason.

I know that Ireland do not have the depth of South Africa, but Ireland need to bring in youngsters now if they want to be competitive in 2027

    Leslie, Cape Town

This Ireland–South Africa game is pure chaos in the best way, the Boks smashing through everything, Ireland throwing themselves into every tackle, and the whole place buzzing like something mad is about to happen.

Classic case of Ireland dropping off form 2 years from a World Cup?

    So, just to recap.

    Five tries.

    Two disallowed tries.

Five Ireland yellow cards, one of which was upgraded to red.

One South Africa yellow card, and another which was overturned.

Two more first-half incidents which could easily have been yellow cards but weren't.

Just 32 penalties from both sides.

Ireland down to 12 players at one point.

That was 80 minutes of mayhem.

Ok, South Africa are a good team but you would have to question the officiating today. Two similar tackles and one ends in red while the other involves no card, game changer. Ireland did well to keep the score down in the end

    Jack, Munich

Impressive South Africa overcome a very good Ireland side. SA showing depth class and flair yet again. Worthy to be called best in the world team.

    Andre, Nantwich

What a game. Although they lost Ireland showed tremendous courage and tenacity. One for the history books

    Ian, East Lothian

Absorbing game and Ireland have been brave but whilst Ill-discipline was a problem, ultimately, they were just outclassed by a South African team that is taking the game to the next level
