It was getting fractious but what wasn't fractured was the forward drive. They were always in control.

France throw into the line-out and it is overthrown. England chuck the ball wide and Ellie Kildunne kicks and forces a line-out.

The Red Roses have started this half really sharp. However, France again manage to win it back. They go quick from the penalty.

A weird old half.

England seemed to be winning lots of the battles - having the better of the breakdown and the set-piece - but are in danger of losing the war.

Their inaccuracies in attack are costing them territory and possession and France are growing in belief.

Dangerous times. Which is probably the message that Meg Jones was attempting to impart, perhaps with a bit more emphasis, to Zoe Aldcroft and Natasha Hunt during a conflab among the team leaders as they headed down the tunnel.
