    It was a valiant effort from Cardiff, but it was always going to be an uphill task after Danny Southworth's red card in the 30th minute.

    They scored four tries and were cruelly stripped of a losing bonus-point with the last kick of the game.

    They will await the other scores of the weekend, but it looks very likely they will fall just short of making the play-offs for the first time.

    Scarlets could very well carry the only Welsh hopes of a top eight finish when they take on Sharks tomorrow night.

    But there's a lot of rugby to be played before then.
