    That is all from us as New Zealand show their class to thump Ireland and secure top spot in Pool C.

    No one will want to face the Black Ferns in the quarter-finals when they are on song as they were in Brighton.

    It was a tough day for Ireland who just couldn't break down New Zealand's stern defence.

    They will look ahead to facing the winner of the game between France and South Africa in the next round.

    New Zealand set down a marker. They were untouchable today and were so clinical. Ireland were not at their best they didn't fire any shots, but I think some of that is because New Zealand were so good.

    New Zealand's Sylvia Brunt was named player of the match. Speaking to BBC Sport, she said: "We spoke about celebrating every win and I enjoy that with the team. We have a saying 'with you, with me' and that's something that helped us get through.

    "I'm very grateful to be in a quarter-final We've just been going through it game by game, so we will look forward to that now."
