If you are new to ruby, the aim of the game is very simple: score more points than the other team over 80 minutes of play (two halves of 40 minutes).

You do this by scoring tries, conversions, drop-goals and penalties.

• A try - for touching the ball to the ground in your opponent's in-goal area - is worth five points
• A conversion - a kick after a try (which we might refer to as extras) - is worth two points
• A penalty kick and a drop-goal are both worth three points

England won the most recent match last year in Vancouver, but it was a lot closer than they would have liked.

John Mitchell's side had to fight back in the second half to secure a 21-12 victory that enabled them to retain their WXV1 title.

"I think we won ugly - sometimes you have to do that," Mitchell said.

England have beaten Canada 33 times out of 37 meetings (and drawn once).

England have won the last 13 matches - they not lost to Canada since a 2016 defeat in Salt Lake City

"I didn't dream of this moment, we played at Twickenham in the 80s and there was no one in the stands. I think it shows the joy of Women's Rugby."
