    Fin Smith

Bath's Alfie Barbeary is penalised for offside by referee Andrew Brace and Saints will have the chance to add to their lead from the tee.

No bother for the cool head of Fin Smith from bang in front.

    Close!

Fin Smith kicks wide for Saints wing Ollie Sleightholme on the flank - if it goes to hand he scores - but Smith just puts a little too much on it and it escapes the winger's clutches into touch.

You can't take your eyes off this for a second.

    Kepu Tuipulotu (con: Finn Russell)

    Bath make it count immediately!

They keep it tight at the set-piece and sub hooker Kepu Tuipulotu is the beneficiary of the driving maul as he dives over to make it five tries apiece!

Finn Russell knocks over the penalty and all of a sudden Bath only trail by five and have the extra man.

The totting up process of penalties means Saints gigantic lock JJ van der Mescht goes to the sin bin for ten minutes.

Bath need to turn the screw with the extra man.

  12. Saints hanging onpublished at 54 mins

    Bath 26-38 Northampton

Bath are almost in again with a swift counter attack from that turnover with Ben Spencer kicking long and the hosts then charge down the clearing kick and the ball is bouncing around everywhere near the Saints line!

Spencer looks like he's in but passes back infield, Will Muir can't quite gather under pressure and Saints escape!

Big moment for Saints as Henry Pollock moves in to make the turnover on England team-mate Guy Pepper.

Bath were getting some momentum going there but that's put it to a sudden halt.

Moments later, Pollock loses the ball at breakdown and Bath have it back!

Great play by Ben Spencer for Bath. He slowed the game down and they are making the play more structured and getting in good position.

Oooh George Furbank wants that one back.

He collects a knock-on from Bath and wants to kick deep into opposition territory with no-one back but he shins it into touch and is really annoyed with himself.

That came after some good defence disrupted Bath's attacking line-out.

But the hosts have the ball back again after a Saints knock-on.

As is the way in this contest, Bath are straight back on the attack after that Fin Smith penalty.

Saints make an infringement of their own and Bath skipper Ben Spencer has a little word in the ear of referee Andrew Brace.

A couple of changes for Bath now - one of them is prop Thomas du Toit who was named man of the match after only playing the second half last week against Saracens.

Can he have a big impact again tonight?

  17. Penalty: Bath 26-38 Northamptonpublished at 42 mins

    Fin Smith (Northampton)

There's no question of either team adapting their approach to attacking rugby but Saints for the first time tonight point to the posts when they have a penalty.

Sensible choice - but we want tries!

Fin Smith knocks it over with ease from in front of the posts and the first points of the second half go to the visitors who move that lead out to 12.

  18. Kick-offpublished at 21:02 BST 10 April

Saints were 35-14 up after half-an-hour but Bath scored two tries before the break to put themselves back in touch in a game that looked to be slipping away from them.

We start the second half with Saints holding a nine-point lead.

    You're not wrong James!

I seem to remember saying before kick-off that I hoped it lived up to the billing - it has and then some!

How quick did that half go by the way? Flew by!
