    Almost 30 years on, the story of Great Britain's trip to Australia is the stuff of legend.

    Women's rugby league has come a long way since 1996 but the story of that tour lives on.

  2. Plenty of action still to come

    In addition to three domestic fixtures between the NRL and Super League taking place tonight there's a huge international game to whet the appetite.

    England's Lionesses will face Australia's Jillaroos for the first time since the 2017 World Cup.

    The fixture is primed to help women's rugby league develop, however England will be hoping to do better than the 38-0 thrashing they were handed the last time they met Australia.

    That game kicks off in the early hours of Sunday, with a 02:15 GMT kick-off time.

    I'll be taking you through all the action when that gets going, too. Once I've adequately caffeinated myself, that is.

    Sam Burgess will be analysing the game and there's not huge improvements Warrington need to make.

    There are small improvements in two or three different areas like the first three plays, the last plays and kicks that can make a huge difference and that huge difference in those small areas is 24 points at the moment.

    It doesn't feel like a 24-0 game but it's also not shocking as well because Wigan have been very clinical and have done what Wigan do in these big games.

    At the top level of rugby league it's execution that wins you the big matches and Wigan have been clinical when they've had an opportunity.

    Apart from the Liam Marshall one, they've been on the money every time they've had a chance.

    That's absolute as ideal a half as you could have hoped for if you were Wigan boss Matt Peet.

    Meanwhile it's a nightmare for Sam Burgess and his Warrington side. They look well off the pace.

    And that is saying something.

    I don't think Warrington have been a 24-point deficit bad - I just think Wigan have been clinical when they've had the opportunity.

    They've also been fortunate with a couple of the tries. If that Toby King score is given it could have been different.

    Such is Warrington's lack of confidence at the minute, virtually every time Wigan have possession, they're racing through with ease.

    The Wire are offering very little in resistance and Wigan are knocking over player after player like skittles as they gain more and more ground.

    The half-time hooter can't come soon enough for Sam Burgess' side.

    This is looking like a long old afternoon for Warrington, right now.

    Wigan tear Warrington apart and Bevan French's speedy pass to Harry Smith sends him through to tumble down right behind the posts.

    Adam Keighran makes no mistake with the boot, which isn't a surprise given Smith's grounding gave him the easiest of tasks.

    If you cast your mind back to last June, Warrington didn't really show up for the Challenge Cup final, as Wigan won the second of their four trophies in 2024.

    On this evidence, they've not really turned up tonight, either.

    Short of Toby King's earlier disallowed try, they haven't offered a great deal against what certainly looks like a very assured and confident Wigan performance.

    Bevan French is that guy who pops up. He might go through this game and we won't notice him much and he'll have a hat-trick.

    Don't underestimate game sense. He's Johnny on the spot and he's in the right place at the right time.

    Wigan score their third try and it comes after Sam Walters spills the ball behind from Junior Nsemba's offload.

    Despite this, Bevan French picks up the ball unopposed and reacts fast to dot down.

    Adam Keighran kicks the extras and the game is slipping away from Warrington unless they can respond. And fast.

    It's really important now that Warrington are the team that scores next.

    If Wigan go on and score again then it's a long way back. They don't have to score in the first half but they have to be the team that scores next.

    Abbas Miski is like a tank on the flank. He's so strong in those situations. But that's one hell of a finish.

    Firstly, let's not overlook Adam Keighran's superb quickfire pass in the build-up. That was incredible in itself.

    But a flowing Wigan move is eventually finished off by Miski darting to the corner and grounding in mid-air despite Warrington's Matty Dufty's best efforts to tackle him right at the death.

    Keighran adds the two and Wigan are 12-0 up with 15 minutes remaining in the half.
