Matt Peet goes with the same 17 for the third game in a row.

The Wigan Warriors that got the better of Leeds in the final regular season round, and which went on to get past Leigh in the semi-final, are those who will be relied upon once more tonight.

Fifteen of the 17 in the squad tonight were here 12 months ago when Wigan beat Hull KR.

The big news for Hull KR is that fit-again hooker Michael McIlorum is ushed into the startng side for what will be his last game before retirement.

He takes the place of Jez Litten, who drops to the bench.

And after the Robins got a big win in front of the RFL's judiciary this week, Hull KR have prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves in the starting 13 for what will also be his rugby league farewell game.

First, Wigan Warriors lost their grip of the Challenge Cup crown when Hull FC sent them crashing out in the fourth round.

Hull KR then went on to succeed Warriors as Cup Kings by claiming the game's oldest prize at Wembley.

In Super League, it wasn't until the final round of the season that the Robins usurped Wigan as top-toppers as they claimed the League Leaders' Shield.

And just like that, it's now Hull KR who are the ones eyeing up a trophy treble.

Wigan completed their collection last year with a Grand Final win against the Robins.

And they they say revenge is best served cold.

Well, there is certainly an October chill in the air as the game's great disruptors try take the last of Wigan's crowns tonight.

A year ago, Wigan had the complete set.

The Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield and Super League trophies were all in Warriors hands.

They were part of the quadruple of trophies alongside the World Club Challenge.

Wigan's domination of the British game was irrefutable.

Matt Peet's side were being spoken of as one of sport's greatest ever sides.

Twelve months on, there is only one piece of silverware they can end the season with.

It's all about today. It's all about the next 80 minutes of rugby league they play.

There's a lot of commotion here, particularly as the players have come out for their pre-match rituals.

It reminds me of a previous Super League Grand Final when, in full flow, that year's musical act kicked into their most well known song and the crowd erupted.

Awkwardly for this band, who I won't name, they weren't going wild for them. It was because Wigan had run out just below them to begin their warm up.

Two familiar foes will contest the showpiece event of the Super League season, but this year it could be a very different tale.

Wigan Warriors, the 2024 victors, face Hull KR in Saturday's Grand Final for the second time in as many years.

Just 12 months ago, the Cherry and Whites sealed victory in a nervy final under the lights at Old Trafford, capping off a historic quadruple.

In 2025 it is the Robins who stand on the precipice of sporting greatness as they target a trio of trophies of their own.
